LEAGUE OF THE SOUTH NEWS SERVICE

12 AUGUST 2003

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RE: THE TEN COMMANDMENTS MONUMENT, MONTGOMERY

The League of the South, the premier Southern nationalist organization, calls upon its members and all other interested persons to meet in Montgomery, Alabama, on Wednesday, 20 August, to oppose the removal of the Ten Commandments monument in the Alabama Judiciary Building.

The League's rally will be held on the steps of the State Capitol from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. A press conference will be conducted at the same venue at 3:30 p.m.

League President, Dr. Michael Hill, said that "all League members should do their utmost to be in Montgomery for this historic event. Once again, the federal courts have shown themselves to be enemies of the Christian people of Alabama. This is an issue of honoring God's law and upholding States Rights. Therefore, I ask everyone to bring either the Christian flag or the Alabama State flag. Federal judges must be shown that they are not above God's law nor or they to be permitted to claim jurisdiction where they have none. This is Alabama's business and the federal courts should stay out of it."

The League also wishes to show its support for Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore, whom it has encouraged to stand fast in keeping the monument at its present location. Hill noted: "We stand ready to exert our rights as citizens of the great and sovereign State of Alabama by all honorable means. As our State motto says: 'We dare defend our rights.' Moreover, we call upon citizens from our neighbor States who honor God's law and wish to defend States Rights against federal usurpation to come and stand with us."
